Playground Build NMA Volunteers

NMA Believes in Community Service

NMA is dedicated to providing service to the community as an organization, and also encourages its members to provide community service as individuals. From collecting toys for Firefighters for Kids to collecting canned goods for the Mid-Ohio Food-Bank to helping with the City’s Neighborhood Pride program to collecting pop-can tabs for Ronald McDonald House, our chapter is always finding ways to enrich our community.

In the past, chapter members geared up for a Columbus Recreation & Parks project, braving the rain and mud to help build a new playground at Fairwood Park.

The Columbus Public Service Chapter provides annual support to the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership organization, whose mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.

Our members have individually volunteered for Habitat for Humanity Home of Hope, Honor Flight, neighborhood beautification projects, civic associations, Ronald McDonald House Charities, religious organizations, and mentoring programs, to name only a few.  Many of our members also volunteer for our own City of Columbus’ Neighborhood Pride program.

Another of NMA’s notable community service activities is its annual speech contest for high school students. Contestants are given the opportunity to write and present a five-minute speech and compete for scholarships at the local, regional, and national level.
